Thermaforms
Thermaforms: a three-dimensional representation of a thermal image, itself derived from a piece of performance art in which dancers, mimicking bird’s actions at nest-building time, interacted spontaneously with birdsong, blocks of clay, and each other. Data was collected by digital technologies - thermal imaging cameras and scanning equipment. Thermal sensors captured the dancers’ movements, as they shaped the clay with their bodies. And so, the dancers’ flowing body heat became data, that, later synthesized by creative technology, was eventually printed by a 3D printer. Visually, the 3D representation shows emergent figures, who, technologically morphed into abstraction, contain elements of both, primitive stone carved ancestors, and futuristic avatars.
