Here’s to thee - old apple tree

Piles of rotting apple windfalls were cast in plaster. Supported with metal barrel hoops the liquid plaster moves around the apples, fixing itself into the spaces it finds. When hardened the apple mush was dug out leaving behind spherical voids made by the apple shapes. The sculpture becomes a labyrinthine form with apple skins and earth matter adding to the surface texture and smell.
