Social Scaffolding is a collective comprising of artists, Lou Baker, Alyson Minkley and myself.
We engage new and diverse audiences with dynamic, socially engaged, interactive and immersive art. We make connections and build community through creativity and conversation, promoting the wellbeing of our participants and ourselves.
Throughout 2023 we toured our dynamic, socially engaged exhibition to six venues around the UK. Using empty shops in busy town centres, we engage with diverse audiences, including school, college and community groups.

In the Woods
In the Woods, oil and ink on calico. On display in Milsom Place, Bath. Sep - Oct 2022
A sculptural painting in landscape form. 870 x 60 cm
Folds and creases in the canvas and the uneven edges suggest the topography of the ground. The painting is presented horizontally, inviting the viewer to walk along the length of it experiencing a physical feeling of immersion in woodlands. The imagined landscape was created without visual reference, using only recollections of the physical action of daily walks in the woods. The action of footsteps on earth, the pressure on the surface through the walking motion, the inhalation of unpolluted air, the smells and sounds of nature are imbibed through the body and transferred onto the canvas as a direct result of the felt experience.
Like a tapestry, the artwork has a start and end point, evoking ideas of storytelling through its length, folds, and undulating creases on the surface.
Exhibited in Milsom Place, Bath. Sep - Oct 2022

A series of 15 sculptures cast from the holes in the ground left behind when fencing posts were removed. The plaster captures in the interior architecture and indexical marks from the wood and the soil encasing them.
Presented on antique wooden staircases they appear as petrified versions of themselves. Their primeval appearance contrasts with the refinement of their kin - the stairs. Like a crowd they wait their turn to ascend up the staircase to nowhere.

It all begins with an idea.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
